“Call It A Comeback: Old-School Typewriters
                  Attract NEW Fans”

Wednesday, June 14, 2017By RUSSELL CONTRERAS,  Associated Press ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) --

“Typewriter enthusiasts gather at an Albuquerque restaurant to experiment with vintage Smith Coronas. Fans in Boston kneel in a city square and type stories about their lives during a pro-immigration demonstration. A documentary on typewriters featuring Tom Hanks and musician John Mayer is set for release this summer.
In the age of smartphones, social media and cyber hacking fears, vintage typewriters that once gathered dust in attics and basements are attracting a NEW generation of fans across the U.S.

From public "type-ins" at bars to street poets selling personalized, typewritten poems on the spot, typewriters have emerged as popular items with aficionados hunting for them in thrift stores, online auction sites and antique shops. Some buy antique Underwoods to add to a growing collection. Others search for a midcentury Royal Quiet De Luxe — like a model author Ernest Hemingway used — to work on that simmering novel.”

The article goes on to tell about the quest for these machines. I never thought there would be a need for them, and I recently got rid of one that I didn't think anyone could use.

                     TRENDING NOW?

Here we are, on the brink of bringing Jesus into our NEWest High Tech center, Redwood City. I had some thoughts about what might attract this population to Jesus. He might be viewed by some as an “old thing.” Something in which our grandparents were interested. But we don’t have to make Jesus a NEW thing, the Holy Spirit is constantly pointing to Him in us.

We are praying that Jesus will be Trending in our population, that He is the hottest NEW Thing. If they want typewriters, who is to say they won’t want Jesus? This sparks my imagination, and when I ponder this thought, I think of a song:

                             Victory in Jesus

(1939 Eugene Bartlett)
“I heard an old old story, how a Savior came from Glory. How He gave His Life on Calvary, to save someone like me. I heard about His groaning, of His precious blood’s atoning. Then I repented of my sin and won the victory!”
“Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior forever! He sought me and bought me, with His redeeming blood! He loved me e’re I kNEW Him, and all my love is due Him! He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing blood!”

                     Word Study: “NEW”

2 Corinthians 5:17: ’Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the NEW creation has come: The old has gone, the NEW is here!

Mark 1:27: “The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A NEW teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey Him.”

Luke 4:18: “The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to proclaim good NEWs to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free”

Luke 5:39: “No one after drinking old wine wants the NEW, for they say, ‘The old is better.’”

Acts 5:20: “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this NEW life.”

Acts 14:15:“We are bringing you good NEWs, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them.”

Romans 6:4: “We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a NEW life.”

Romans 7:6: “But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the NEW way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.”

2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the NEW creation has come: The old has gone, the NEW is here!”

Ephesians 4:22-24: “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made NEW in the attitude of your minds;  and to put on the NEW self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Colossians 3:10: “(You) have put on the NEW self, which is being reNEWed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”

Revelation 21:5: “He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything NEW!’ Then He said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’”

                  What Now?

Recently, friends told me that I don’t really press people about their faith or their lack of it, I just drip, drip, drip until people can see Him. I laughed! As long as I'm not a leaky faucet...

Now is the time to be on my knees, praying for our city, our country and our world. If God wants to bring revival, it will happen. If He doesn’t, it won’t. All I can do is be faithful to what He has called me to do.

Romans 11:29: “His Gifts and His Call are IRREVOCABLE.”

    BARB'S ARTWORK
It seems to fall into the category of Aleatoric Art. I just scribble &  it looks
    like something
    to me, so
    I turn it into
    whatever I see.

Aleatoricart posted this description in September 2011 (this is an elevated view in my opinion):

"Aleatoric Art is the ultimate collaboration between
man and the elements. Happenstance, randomness
    and a twist
of fate’s unwilling wrist go in halfseys
with some of the most outstanding visionaries
the planet can boast in a peaceful
    yet often violent serendipity of
    creative cacophony
to produce works of art that go far beyond those
    of mere mortals alone."
