2 Corinthians 10:17-18: “’Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord’.. For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.”

Notes on 2 Corinthians 10:17, 18
“When we do something well, we want to tell others and be recognized. But recognition is dangerous—it can lead to inflated pride. How much better it is to seek the praise of God rather than the praise of people. Then, when we receive praise, we will be free to give God the credit. What should you change about the way you live in order to receive God’s commendation?”
So what is it today that I am seeking praise or recognition about?
Now that I am alone all the time, my outlets trying to be the best wife I can be, enjoy short visits from friends, post on my blog and on face book. Why do I do these things? What is my motivation?
I think from day one God made me to be an encourager.. to hopefully have people feel better about themselves after speaking or being with me than before they arrived.. Now, am I doing this to please people or to please God?
I believe when we actually live into our God-given purpose, we do both. We please God because we are doing what He has designed us to do. We please people because they can see God’s hand at work and hopefully, praise will go to Him.
There is a time though, when we are compulsed to do things.. this does not please God.. God loves us to have a willing heart and doesn’t like it when we feel forced to do something.. So if I miss encouraging someone and have a day when I don’t feel like living out what God made me to be, will He be upset with me?
I think that God hurts when we hurt.. and if our reasons for not being all He created us to be are because of fatigue, hurt, fear or grief.. then He hurts along with us.. and He is the Ultimate Encourager.. He gently guides us back to where we can live fully for Him.. so that He will be the One we are pleasing, not ourselves or others...
