Your Diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.) will open a new chapter in your life. You can choose to be identified by it, or you can learn that, although it is a constant companion that causes you to be creative and resilient in your ability to cope, you can still succeed as the best version of you possible.
You will greatly benefit if you marinate in this fact: you have a choice. You actually have many choices. You are not without options. Begin to look at life as if everything is temporary. This concept will develop more and more as you experience exacerbations and remissions. Relapses seem to never end, but they do. You may have residual disability or affliction, yet you are still here, and you are able to create your own lifestage. Make a decision today that you choose to be a happy disabled person, and that, even if it takes you three hours to get ready, you will be clean, your clothing will be ironed, your makeup will be on and you will be beautiful.
It may seem tedious as you read my instructions about getting ready, but know that having a routine will save your energy and create a more pleasant you in the process.
Begin your routine with your teeth. Do not neglect to floss. Flossing is paramount as you want the health of your mouth to reflect the attitude in your mind. There are many appliances that are designed for those who have difficulty using their hands, use them! Then brush your teeth with Sensodyne, because your teeth have most likely become very sensitive to heat and cold. Use a whitening mouthwash to keep your teeth their brightest. A bright white smile is an intrinsic part of being marvelous.
Next, take a shower. In your new state, you will find that too much heat can take you out of the action quickly, so baths are a definite no. Let the balmy water run over your head gently, and make sure that your cleansing agents and shampoos have a brilliant fragrance to augment the loveliness in your psyche. Enjoy the experience rather than considering it a chore. Mindset is everything.
Because your body is working so hard to just get around, it isn’t concerned about your hair. The use of hair treatments and conditioners is critical to feed and nourish lifeless hair, as healthy, shiny locks give you a resplendent presence. Don’t miss shaving parts that need to be smooth and hair free, and never neglect your feet. Your feet will tell the story of how you care for yourself.
After you get out of the shower, and dry off thoroughly, lavish sweet bouquet-scented rich moisturizing unguent head to toe. Soft, gleaming skin will be the foundation on which to build your allure.
At this point, you will experience your routine coming to a screeching halt. Exhaustion will set in, and you will need to build time into your routine for an intermission or a short nap.
At the conclusion of your respite, proceed to put on clothing, slowly. Your ability to use your energy efficiently will dictate the possibilities in your day. Physical and brain weariness need to be avoided so that you are able to float in majesty, sunrise to sunset.
Never neglect the carefully coiffed hair part of your routine, as it will make or break how you perceive yourself, and will convince others of your overcoming spirit in the face of obstacles.
Your last activity is your face. Look at it. Decide what would make you feel your best, and give you an air of exquisiteness. The better you feel, the better you will feel. Coordinating colors and hues will bring your entire look together. Keep items with you to freshen your look as the day goes by. Fresh makeup is a weapon against fatigue.
Another rest time will be necessary now, so take time to reflect on your blessings. You will experience much loss in this new phase of your life, so fill your quiver with appreciation and awareness of the good things in your life. Joy in your heart will show in your face, and will actually encourage others. It is absolutely possible that this juncture in your life will have a positive impact on others.
Now, grab your walker, and go face your world! You may walk, talk and act peculiarly, but you will be positively radiant in doing so!
