I have recently finished a devotional that is 10 Habits Of Intimacy With God. This was the last instruction:
"First, define your identity. If there are any discrepancies in what God says about you, replace them with the truth. Live loved. Live out those words for you and the world to see and enjoy! You are His beloved! Second, develop a strong core of all these values. Spend time with God in the Word, applying all He speaks to your personal life. Let integrity be worked through and through, reflecting God in your words, choices, and responses. Serve others in humility, bending low and lifting up one another. Humility is the essence of love. Third, declare your vision and mission. Write out your vision statement that you believe God gave to you when He created you and then list the ways you desire to walk out in mission that vision statement."
Define my identity:
Philippians 4:13, The Message:
"Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am."
Develop a strong core of values:
Integrity,
Honesty,
Humility,
Authenticity,
Living the Word of God,
Following the Holy Spirit,
Sharing Jesus Christ,
Giving Generously,
Seeking Social Justice
Declare my vision and my mission:
God gave me 2 scriptures when I became a Jesus Follower:
Isaiah 54:1, the Message:
“'Sing, barren woman, who has never had a baby.
Fill the air with song, you who’ve never experienced childbirth!
You’re ending up with far more children
than all those childbearing women.' God says so!"
Psalm 68:6a, NIV:
God sets the lonely in families
At the time, I had no idea how they would play out in my life. I am so grateful to the Lord for all He has done. Because He has given me a family in Him and children in Him, the core values play out day to day. I am His, He is mine. I am on this earth to bring people to know Him in a fresh way. I will never forget where I came from, and where I am going, so I am willing to get up and serve wherever God leads, not only sharing the Gospel, but my life as well.
